Innsbruck, Austria -
June 26-28, 2024 - The "Curriculum Reform to Promote Education for Peace
in Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova (PeaceEdu)" project held a significant
study meeting at the University of Innsbruck within the framework of the ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE
program. This three-day meeting aimed to allow participating teams from
Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova to study European experiences in peace education,
focusing on both teacher education programs and general university training
components.
Delegates from the
mentioned countries presented comprehensive reports on the current state of
peace education, along with detailed needs analyses at both national and
institutional levels. Their presentations highlighted the challenges facing
university curricula in their respective countries, especially concerning
teacher training programs.
Project partners from
Austria, Finland, and Germany provided valuable perspectives on integrating
peace education into formal education systems during the training sessions.
These sessions for teams from Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova resulted in the
development of a conceptual framework for peace education tailored to their
specific needs. The exchange of ideas and best practices underscored the
importance of a unified approach to peace education and its role in fostering a
culture of peace and understanding among future generations.
At the end of the
meeting, the participants expressed their support for advancing peace education
and ensuring its long-term sustainability in their countries.

PeaceEdu project from Sokhumi State University who participated in the study
meeting and training sessions in Innsbruck included: Assoc. Prof. Tamar
Pkhaladze, Assistant Levan Kvaratskhelia, and Phd student Ia Murghulia.
