On
November 6, 2024, at the invitation of His Excellency Zhou Qian, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China, Rector of
Sokhumi State University, Professor Zurab Khonelidze, along with his
delegation, attended a dinner at the ambassador’s residence. The gathering was
also attended by representatives from the Chinese Embassy, including Ambassador
Zhou Qian, First Secretary Mrs. Dan Wong, First Secretary Mr. Liu Xiasong, and Attaché
Mr. Chen Chibin.
From
Sokhumi State University, the attendees included Professor Zurab Khonelidze,
Rector and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary; Professor Lia
Akhaladze, Head of the Scientific Research and Development Department; Levan Geradze,
Scientific Director of the Peace Education Center; Professor Badri Natchkebia,
Researcher at the Peace Education Center and Expert-Consultant at Xinjiang
University; as well as Mr. David Aptsiauri, former Ambassador of Georgia to
China.
The
participants discussed the academic cooperation between China and Georgia,
highlighting the various opportunities for development that could benefit both
countries in regional and global contexts. A particular focus was given to a
planned scientific seminar entitled "Building a Global Society of a Common
Future and China-Georgia Cooperation," which is scheduled to take place by
the end of the year. The event will bring together representatives from higher
education institutions, research organizations, and academic communities from
both China and Georgia.
The
meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to further strengthen academic
collaboration and explore new opportunities for cooperation. The gathering took
place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
